Warburton Optimistic About US Economy

LIGNET Special Economic Advisor Dr. Peter Warburton gives a positive outlook for the U.S. economy in 2013, which he describes as a “transitional” year. His outlook for 2014 is even more encouraging. Warburton says there are challenges facing the U.S. economy this year, such as government belt-tightening and high gasoline and food prices, but he does not think these factors will have a significant effect. He is worried however, that the United States has become too dependent on stimulus spending.

Retired US General Says Rebels Control Most of Syria

Major General Paul Vallely told LIGNET in an exclusive interview that Syrian rebels led by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) now control approximately two-thirds of Syria. Vallely said the FSA is the primary rebel organization inside the country and is steadily making gains against the Assad regime. He also discusses his belief that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons against rebel forces.

Richard Holm: Unanswered Questions About Benghazi

Legendary former CIA operations officer Richard Holm tells LIGNET that the actions of U.S. officials during, before, and after the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi last September were “inexcusable” and he is concerned that no one has been held accountable. Holm sees threats to the United States from Iran, North Korea, and terrorism and is confident in the ability of the CIA Clandestine Service to help defend America against these threats.

Warburton: Challenges for the Japanese Economy
