The UN said yesterday that approximately 21,000 Syrian refugees have moved into a refugee camp in northern Jordan . . . the surge is over five times the normal daily rate of inflows of refugees . . . the camp is already grappling with flooding, tent fires, and a shortage in food and aid supplies . . . the UN says the dramatic increase in refugees arriving at the camp will make their demand for funding even more critical . . . there are now over 320,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan . . . the dramatic influx of Syrian refugees into northern Jordan is likely a response to the intense fighting in southern Syria over the last week  . . . over-crowded conditions at the camp coupled with the lack of supplies will create strains for the Jordan government and UN officials . . . as the Syrian conflict continues to rage on, the refugee influx and supply issue will likely only worsen unless a breakthrough for more external funding occurs.
