Russia/North Korea: Pyongyang Has Labor Camps in Siberia

Pyongyang reportedly has been outsourcing its people to labor camps in Siberia for 10-year shifts under harsh working conditions and virtually no pay, according to an investigation by New York-based Vice magazine . . . the villages resemble those within North Korea including the decorations that commemorate the Dear Leader . . . prior to his death, Kim Jong Il had met with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in August to discuss expanding trade with Moscow . . . if this report is true, it is uncertain what will become of the camps with the death of Kim Jong Il . . . it is unlikely that Moscow will end the camps on its own, as the North Koreans serve as a cheap source of labor in the sparsely populated Siberian region.
