EU foreign ministers held an emergency meeting today to agree on on EU support for France in the Mali conflict . . . the EU officials agreed to send 500 EU troops to Mali’s capital, Bamako . . . the EU troops will be limited to training Malian troops . . . the EU foreign ministers decision is an attempt to support France in the Malian conflict and demonstrate a unified EU response . . . however, EU states continue to be reluctant to increase their involvement to include combat troops to fight alongside French troops in Mali despite requests for such assistance from Paris.
