Anti-American protests reignited today across the Muslim World . . . protestors are angered over an anti-Muhammad video produced in the US as well as a recent cartoon published in France which mocks the Prophet . . .  protestors are burning US and Israeli flags in front of US embassies and are chanting “destroy America” . . . violent protests are occurring across Pakistan . . . Pakistani troops were sent to the capital yesterday in preparation for major protests after demonstrators in Islamabad tried to breach security to reach the American embassy . . . increased Pakistani security efforts have not calmed the protests . . . police in Peshawar open fired against protestors who were rioting and firebombed a cinema and were destroying other properties . . . the exchange between the police and the crowd resulted in several deaths  . . . in response to violent protests over the past week, the US government spent $70,000 to air a commercial in Pakistan where President Obama and Secretary Clinton denounced the anti-Muhammad video in an effort to calm passions . . . Pakistan had declared a public holiday today so its citizens could protest the video, but it appears they were not prepared for violent protesters to riot and lost control over protests in cities like Peshawar . . . protests are expected to continue throughout the day across the Muslim world and violence could spread beyond Pakistan to other countries where extremists seek to take advantage of mob mentalities . . . President Obama’s ad in Pakistan will do nothing to end the protests and suggest the administration neither understands the ideologically driven protests across the Muslim World nor has any idea of how to address them.
